The Vriesea splendens is one of the most popular bromeliads due to its exotic appearance and spectacular inflorescence.
Its long, strap-like leaves form an elegant rosette, marked with dark green and purple bands, creating a very decorative striped effect.

Its main attraction is its colorful floral bract — a flamboyant, feather-shaped red stalk, hence its nickname Flaming Sword. This bract can last several months, although the flowers themselves are more discreet and short-lived. Do not cut damaged leaves, as these harbor offsets that will take over.

Non-toxic to animals.
