Sarracenias are carnivorous plants for humid environments. They are among the passive trap carnivorous plants. Indeed, insects attracted by the sweet nectar of the urn-shaped leaves cannot escape. The 'Maroon' variety has a beautiful shade of red and brown. As with most carnivorous plants, avoid giving it insects; they manage very well on their own. You can cut off dry or damaged urns to avoid the risk of rot. Sarracenias require a winter dormancy period and do not tolerate excess minerals found in tap water. This excess could be fatal. It is important to water with demineralized water, which can be purchased at the pharmacy, or with rainwater. Melted snow works very well!

Non-toxic to animals.
