Echinopsis chamaecereus, more commonly known as the Peanut Cactus, is highly prized for its compact growth and abundant flowering. It quickly forms dense clumps composed of numerous elongated and cylindrical stems, measuring 10 to 15 cm long and about 1 to 2 cm thick. These stems, a tender green, are segmented and slightly arched, evoking the appearance of a peanut, hence its nickname. They bear small regular ribs adorned with fine, short, flexible spines, giving the plant a soft and attractive texture. During flowering, generally in spring and summer, Echinopsis chamaecereus is covered with large, funnel-shaped flowers of brilliant orange to vivid red, spectacular and abundant, contrasting beautifully with the tender green of the stems. In winter, it appreciates a cooler, drier resting period, promoting abundant flowering the following season.
