Like the Ficus Ginseng, the Ficus Retusa is considered a beginner's bonsai! It requires little care compared to certain types of bonsai. Its small tree-like appearance includes a substantial trunk and large, glossy green leaves. Maintenance pruning is done from late spring to mid-summer to give them time to regrow. It also prefers high humidity and good, bright light, and is very susceptible to root rot. Avoid letting water remain in the saucer. In addition, the Ficus Retusa grows quickly; it is necessary to fertilize it regularly to prevent it from lacking nutrients. Like all fig trees, it does not like to be moved.
