Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a spectacular epiphytic cactus, often called "orchid cactus" or "queen of the night" due to its exceptional bloom.
The plant develops long, flat, trailing stems, green and slightly wavy, that can reach 1 to 2 meters in length over time. Unlike desert cacti, this species naturally grows in the trees of tropical forests, where it receives filtered light and high humidity.
Its most remarkable characteristic is its large, very fragrant white flower, which can reach 20 to 30 cm in diameter. Flowering generally occurs at night, and the flower often lasts only one night, which makes it even more fascinating for collectors.
💡 Tip:
To encourage flowering, give the plant a cooler, slightly drier period in winter, as well as good light throughout the year. Older stems are often the ones that produce flowers. 🌙🌸
