Calatheas have unusual foliage. The 'Purple Rose' variety has pink foliage with a dark border. It requires little light to thrive but appreciates a warm, humid environment. We recommend watering with demineralized water, which can be purchased at pharmacies, or with rainwater. Melted snow works very well! Calatheas do not tolerate the excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burn and damage the foliage.
