Calatheas have foliage that is out of the ordinary. It attracts the eye with the patterns of its large rounded leaves similar to a fan. The leaves have the particularity of closing in the evening and opening during the day. It requires little light to flourish, but appreciates a warm and humid environment. We recommend watering with demineralized water which can be purchased in pharmacies or with rainwater. Melted snow works great! Calatheas do not tolerate excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burns and damage the foliage.
