The Goeppertia veitchiana 'Medallion', commonly sold as Calathea 'Medallion', is a magnificent tropical plant prized for its spectacular and highly decorative foliage. Its large oval leaves feature an intricate pattern of dark green, silvery green, and cream, often with a purple underside.
Like many plants in the Marantaceae family, its leaves can straighten up and move throughout the day in response to light variations.
We recommend watering with distilled water, which can be purchased at pharmacies, or with rainwater. Melted snow also works very well! Calatheas do not tolerate the excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burn and damage the foliage.
Non-toxic to animals.
