Calatheas have unusual foliage. It catches the eye with the patterns of its slender foliage, similar to peacock feathers. Their leaves have the particularity of closing in the evening and opening during the day. It requires little light to thrive but enjoys a warm and humid environment. We recommend watering with demineralized water, which can be bought at a pharmacy, or with rainwater. Melted snow works very well! Calatheas do not tolerate the excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burn and damage the foliage.
