Calatheas have extraordinary foliage. They attract attention with the patterns of their slender foliage and their various shades of green. The purple underside of their leaves adds elegance to any decor. Calatheas are also known as Peacock Plants because their leaves resemble peacock feathers. They require little light to thrive but appreciate a warm and humid environment. We recommend watering with demineralized water, which can be purchased at a pharmacy, or with rainwater. Melted snow works very well too! Calatheas do not tolerate the excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burn and damage the foliage.
