Calatheas have extraordinary foliage. The 'Helen Kennedy' variety has oval leaves with a burgundy underside and a unique pattern. It requires little light to thrive but enjoys a warm and humid environment. We recommend watering with demineralized water, which can be purchased at pharmacies, or with rainwater. Melted snow works very well! Calatheas do not tolerate the excess minerals found in tap water very well. This excess can cause root burn and damage the foliage.
