Ananas comosus is a plant native to tropical regions of Brazil, of the Bromeliaceae family. It forms a rosette, the central part of which bears its flower and its fruit. Pineapple can last several months before drying out and falling off. Like all bromeliads, the rosettes die while forming seeds. Before dying, they produce offspring which will in turn produce pineapples. To ensure their growth, Ananas comosus appreciates strong light, or even direct sun.
