Also called 'House Maple', due to its downy leaves similar to those of a maple. It grows very well as a houseplant and can reach up to 1.5 m in height. This plant is sensitive to sudden temperature changes and cold drafts. The 'Variegata' variety has variegated green and cream foliage. It flowers in the summer. To ensure abundant flowering, regular maintenance pruning is recommended.

Here are some tips for sizing:

  • Prune back lean plants in early spring.
  • Remove weak stems/shoots and then cut the stems back by a third of their length.
  • Pinch back young shoots during the summer to encourage the formation of new flowering stems.
  • Remove faded flowers.
